On February 21-22, Secretary Clinton hosted the State Department Global Business Conference. The conference brought together senior officials from U.S. business organizations from over 120 countries and around 30 European AmChams. AmCham France was represented by past AmCham France President, Jean-Claude Gruffat. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave the keynote luncheon address, which can be viewed on the U.S. Department of state website: http://www.state.gov. The Global Business Conference attendees included a very high-level of government representatives including Deputy Secretary of State Tom Nides, US Trade Representative Ron Kirk, Secretary of Commerce John Bryson, Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economic Affairs Mike Froman, and even US Vice President Joe Biden. In her keynote luncheon address, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton focused on economic statecraft and economic diplomacy, She and the other US government speakers stressed the need for the United States Government to be the most effective champion of business and highlighted three areas of focus: promotion of US business overseas; attracting US investment back home; and creating a level-playing field for US business worldwide. | ||
