• Taxation Working Committee Roundtable: "Tax Credit for Employment and Competitiveness: What is the Real Impact on your Business?"

    June 04 2013, 08:30 - 08:30
Location: AmCham France - 77, rue de Miromesnil 75008 Paris

The “crédit d’impôt pour la compétitivité et l’emploi (“CICE”) is essentially a reduction in profit taxes computed on the basis of certain salaries paid by the enterprise. This tax credit may offset the corporate income tax or may constitute a debt owed to the taxpayer by the French government that can be transferred or even “pre-financed.”  Effective January 1, 2013, the credit will be available to offset French corporate income tax liability for the year 2013, and for subsequent tax years.

The plan is for the CICE to boost competitiveness by reducing the effective tax rate of eligible companies.  It is estimated to put 80 billion Euros back in the pockets of eligible companies doing business in France over a period of three years.  The extra funds available to companies as a result of the CICE and the resulting income tax savings will be available for creating more jobs, for investing in innovative technologies, and for growing their businesses.
The credit is new and there are many questions as to the computation of the credit, how to account for it and the impact of the credit on the level of the individual enterprise as well as the French economy as a whole.
The following topics will be discussed during the roundtable:

    How does the CICE work?

What enterprises are eligible to use the CICE?

    How is the CICE computed?

How to minimize the risk of a later adjustment to the underlying social charges?

    Pre-financing the CICE

Financial accounting treatment of the CICE

Presenters for this event will be

    ·       Brigitte Auberton, Tax Partner, Ernst & Young

    ·       Marie-Pascale Piot, Director – Labor Law, Ernst & Young

Please note that the Roundtable will be in French
