• Luncheon with Deputy United States Trade Representative Miriam Sapiro

    AmCham France, with the help of the U.S. Embassy, welcomed Ambassador Sapiro to an intimate luncheon. A group of 12 AmCham members from top IT and new media firms listened to the Ambassador speak about important issues on internet and telecommunications policies in the context of the world trading system. Ambassador Sapiro, who assumed office on January 4, is responsible for trade negotiations with Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. She also supervises intergovernmental affairs, market access, services and investment, intellectual property and innovation, and the Washington office of WTO and Multilateral Affairs.  Previously she was founder and president of Summit Strategies International, a consulting firm specializing in internet and telecommunications policy, and was an executive in the technology sector. She has also served as Chairman of the Coalition of Service Industries' China E-Commerce Committee and on the Executive Council of the American Society of International Law.
    In 1999, she was appointed as Special Assistant to President Clinton and Counselor for Southeast European Stabilization and Reconstruction. She has also worked as Director of European Affairs at the National Security Council, and in the State Department's Policy Planning and Legal Adviser offices.
