    LEGAL ENGLISH TRAINING PROGRAM
    In preparation for the International Legal English Certificate (ILEC) Developed by Cambridge University
    ILEC is world’s first and only international recognized test of legal English. It tests the ability of lawyers to use English for professional purposes. The exam is based on realistic tasks of the kind that legal practitioners would be expected to encounter in their daily working lives. The biannual exam takes place in November and May.     ILEC is recognized by leading associations of lawyers including the European Company Lawyers Association (ECLA), the European Law Students Association, the International Association of Young Lawyers, and the European Young Bar Association. ECLA It is also recognized by the Paris Bar Association Legal Training Centre (EFB).

    Course Content:
    Subjects: Company Law, Contracts, Competition Law, Employment Law, Bankruptcy and more
    Legal writing practice: letters, memorandums, contracts
    Listening and speaking exercises , Interactive negotiation role play

    Course Information:
    WHO: Lawyers, Legal Support Staff, Students, Members and Non-members of AmCham
    WHEN: Every Monday evening for 14 Weeks from January 17, 2011, 19:00- 21:00
    WHERE: American Chamber of Commerce in France, 156 boulevard Haussmann 75008 Paris, France
    HOW: Each class can be taken separately or as a series. There is no requirement to take the ILEC exam.
     
    PRICE:
    14 Week Series
    AmCham Members: 1400 EUR (H.T) for the entire 14 week class
    Others: 1500 EUR (H.T.) for the entire 14 week class
    Individual Classes
    AmCham Members: 125 EUR H.T. per class
    Others: 150 EUR H.T. per class
    Plus the cost of “International Legal English” by TransLegal in collaboration with Amy Krois-Lindner (2006, CUP)

    Stephanie Schantz is an American lawyer and director of Legal Lingua with over 10 years experience in the legal field. She received her Juris Doctorate (JD) from the University of Wisconsin Law School and a Bachelors Degree (BA) in government from Franklin and Marshall College. Additionally, she studied at Sciences Po and La Sorbonne in Paris, France. Since moving to Paris, Stephanie has lectured at the University of Paris II (Pantheon-Assas) and at ESC-Dijon. She currently teaches “The Language of American Law: An Introduction” at Sciences Po.

    Lawyers can earn up to 28 hours of Continuing Legal Education Credit in France, California and New York.
