• Cocktail with Dale Moss, CEO of the Only Business-class Airline Operating Between France & the U.S.

    April 27 2010, 19:00 - 19:00
Location: Cercle de l’Union Interalliée 33 rue du Faubourg St. Honoré, Paris 75008

Dale Moss is the CEO of OpenSkies, the only pure business-class airline operating between France and the U.S.  An American national, Moss oversaw in 2009 the merger of the previous all-biz carrier L’Avion, which operates between Orly and Newark, with OpenSkies, a French airline set up by British Airways. In his earlier years at BA, Dale led a team of 12,000 people and was proud of helping them deliver extraordinary results. Throughout his extremely successful 30-year career at BA, the high point of every major conference he spoke at was the moment Moss took to the stage to make his remarks.  More recently he served as chief operating officer for Jet Airways in India. The name of his current airline is derived from the new “open-skies” U.S.-EU treaty, which took effect in March.  Among other facilities, it allows European airlines to fly to American airports other than from their home country.  Although OpenSkies has so far flown only between Orly and New York, it will be launching service to Washington the week after our cocktail reception.
Why was Washington the airline’s second destination? There are many historical, cultural and political ties linking Paris and Washington.  For example, at the creation of the nation’s capital, it was France’s Lenfant who laid out the distinctive grid of Washington’s streets, still alive — and greatly appreciated — today.  To celebrate the airline’s new service, it has recruited a famous Washington chef to design and deliver the in-flight dining experience for the first month.  There will certainly be other insights and delights that Moss will share with us during his brief remarks.
