• A US-EU Free Trade Agreement: Is it Now or Never?

    AmCham France and the German Marshall Fund of the United States held a roundtable with Bruce Stokes, Director of Pew Global Economic Attitudes and Constanze Picking, Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's European Division to discuss the challenges facing negotiations on a US-EU Free Trade Agreement, as well as the FTA’s potential for stimulating growth on both sides of the Atlantic. 

     Some of the questions were discussed were:

    • After years of discussion, Brussels and Washington seem ready to begin free trade negotiations. Why now?
    • What is at stake?
    • What are the potential obstacles to completing such a negotiation in a timely fashion?
    • How do  Americans and Europeans feel about such an endeavor?
    • What are the politics in both Europe and the United States around an EU-U.S. FTA
